Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a life-long condition that affects the brain and spinal cord causing a wide range of potential symptoms including problems with vision, balance, muscle control and other basic body functions.

The effects are often varied and quite different for many who suffer from the disease.

When making a life insurance application with MS, underwriters will want to know the precise details of your condition such as...

* What form of MS have you been diagnosed with?

* When were you initially diagnosed?

* What are your symptoms?

* When did your last relapse occur?

* What medication are you currently taking?

* How does MS affect your daily routine?

* Are you currently using any mobility aids?

How much is Life Insurance with MS?

The cost of your premium will very much depend on the extent and severity of your MS symptoms. Most insurance providers will want to liaise with your GP for a full report on your condition.

If your condition is diagnosed as mild and well controlled, some providers can offer life insurance straight away.

Can I get Critical Illness cover Insurance with MS

Getting Serious Illness Cover with MS can sometimes prove difficult.

In most cases, insurers will only look at circumstances with relapsing remitting MS where there have been no relapses in recent years. The underwriters will need to ascertain how MS affects your daily lifestyle, and whether you have incurred any secondary conditions because of it.

If cover is offered, it will almost certainly come with a multiple sclerosis exclusion and possibly other exclusions too.
