Life Insurance/ Insurance for someone with Anorexia?

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

Anorexia Nervosa is a serious eating disorder characterised by an abnormally low body weight, intense fear of gaining weight, food restriction and a strong desire to be thin.

If you have been diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and making an application for life insurance, underwriters will need to know the following...

* What has been your lowest weight?

* Since when have you been at that weight?

* What is your current BMI reading ( body mass index)?

* Have you ever self harmed or required hospitalisation?

* Have you ever required a consultation with a psychiatrist?

If your anorexia condition has stabilised and you now have a healthy BMI,you may be able to get life insurance cover at standard premium terms.

Insurance providers will usually require a medical report from your doctor to support your application.

What about Critical Illness Cover With Anorexia?

Whether you are a current or a previous sufferer of anorexia, getting Critical Illness will be dependent upon the state of your overall health.

As with life insurance, underwriters will want to know as much as possible about your condition....e.g. your lowest weight, BMI, any history of self harming, any treatment by psychiatrists etc.

For more information on the above please schedule a consultation with out life cover broker team today.

Mortgage Protection Insurance is also available and can be discussed in relation to all of the above.
